We are so humbled and excited to announce that we received the "Best Of" award for Best Non-profit Organziation in the 2024 White Mountain Publishing - White Mountain Independent newspaper's fourth annual community vote for everyone's favorites.  Best Non-Profit Organization is one of 118 categories and we were nominated along with 4 other outstanding NPO's in the 5000 square miles of towns and communities that make up the White Mountains.   Over 27,000 votes were cast and tallied.     We would like to congratulate the Darrin Reed Foundation and Pet Allies Animal Shelter for placing in the top-three and receiving the status of Reader Recommended.    Congratulations to each person, company and organziation who were in the competition this year too.   As a 100% volunteer organization, we have no staff or employees, getting this designation confirms just how hard each and every one of our volunteers work.  Their love and care of the horses, donkeys and minis at the rescue shows...and shows how much YOU appreciate their efforts.   Thank you for nominating and voting for the rescue.  This is just such a wonderful honor...seeing it in print brought tears to our eyes.   We won the "Best Of" in 2023, we never imagined we would win in 2024 too.    We hope you had a good holiday weekend and we will be getting you some more updates on other things happening at the rescue soon.    YOU make a difference to the lives of all the horses, donkeys and minis at the rescue and others we are able to help.

And the winner is.......

 

Our last email we let you all know that artist, Gretchen Klett of One Herd Art, would be staying at the rescue to help bring some fun and awareness to what we do.  As a Artist-in-Residence, she offered several classes on pyrography, wood burning with some fun horses and donkey themed wood.     On Saturday, Aug 3rd, five of us enjoyed making different designs on 4" x 4" wood boards and on Tuesday, Aug. 6th, during our Meet & Greet - Open House, we had people come and go over the time we were open and many enjoyed making key chains.     We had to postpone the following classes because I became ill and was unable to host.  At some time in the future, we will do this again.  So before Gretchen headed back home on Friday, we drew the ticket AND THE WINNER IS.....Christy Schust.   She will be receiving her hat directly from Gretchen.    Between the raffle, donations during the Meet & Greet - Open House and EqWBR items sold, we were able to raise a fabulous $452.  This is so appreciated since donations this year have been less than half of prior years.   All donations make such a difference! Open House-Meet & Greet, Aug 6th

 

We are excited to announce a visit from artist Gretchen Klett of One Herd Art.  Over the years she has donated her custom pyrography items for our fundraising auctions and now, she is a resident artist, staying right here at the rescue until Monday, August 12th.     Please join us Tuesday, August 6th, between 10am - 1pm to visit the rescue, meet the horses, donkeys and Gretchen.   We will have several activities you can participate in and merchandise from both One Herd Art and our logo'd items for sale.  While you are here you can even burn a key chain with a design of your choice.   So much fun!!!   We also have a raffle for this pyrography burned and acrylic painted hat donated by One Heart Art to help us raise funds for the 28 horses and donkeys at the rescue.  You can buy raffle tickets with the link below and do not need to be present to win.   Just note that the donation is for raffle tickets.  Drawing will be August 12th before Gretchen departs the rescue.   Saturday, August 10th, between 10am and noon, there is an opportunity to come to the rescue and decorate wooden donkeys and horses which can be used as garden sticks, plant decorations, fun gifts.  $20 and all supplies are included.   Here is some information about Gretchen and her journey with equines and artistry.  She will also take on consignment work if you have a loved one you would like her to create an exclusive piece for yourself.    She creates fabulous wooden spoons, wooden boxes, embelishes jeans, fabulous hats of various sizes and kinds, charcols, and so much more.  Check out her Facebook page for ideas of items you can get with your beloveds on them.     We hope you have a few minutes you can drop by and if not, that you would consider getting raffle tickets to help us raise funds.  You can click the link below or use Zelle: donated@equinewellbeing.org,  Venmo: @equine-wellbeing.     The rescues address is: 8369 Buckskin Trail, Snowflake AZ 85937   Have a wonderful week and thank you SO VERY MUCH!!!!   YOU make a difference to the lives of all the horses, donkeys and minis at the rescue and others we are able to help.

Auction Fundraising results

 

Peyton (pictured above) and all of us at Equine WellBeing Rescue, THANK YOU ALL for helping our 2024 FUNdraising auction !!!!   We had over 130 awesome donated items, which received 796 bids ---OUTSTANDING!     Our goal was to raise $10,000 to cover semi-truck loads of hay for the 31 horses, donkeys and mini mules at the rescue.   We were able to raise $6044 via the auction --- FABULOUS!   To also help raise funds one of our friends and long-time supporter of the rescue offered a $1000 in matching funds for anyone who wanted to donate rather than bid on auction items.  Within 24 hours we matched that $1000 and an additional $795.   After the auction was over we received an additional $1125 in donations to help us reach our goal, for a total of $9964---AMAZING!  Which is what all of you are, simply amazing.     We got a partial load of hay just as the auction started and a full load of hay delivered on June 11th.  Those loads were a total of $13,852 for 109 large bales, averaging 1075 pounds each which is a little over 58 tons of beautiful bermuda grass to feed the 31 equines at the rescue.     We thank you ALL so very much.  Those who donated items for the auction, all of you who bid, those who donated instead of bidding and all the winners for your funds.  A few even paid for their items and donated them back to the rescue for our use or to raise more funds.
